The 2nd edition of the Century Tuna Ironman 70.3 is only a few days away! This is a course that’s unique, challenging, but fast! Yes, believe it or not, it’s a fast course. I’ll walk you through what you need watch out for this March 6.
It’s February once again, and one of the events everyone is looking forward to is TriUnited 1. To all first timers, welcome! We’ll guide you through the race course and give you valuable tips and reminders to give you the best race experience possible! To all veterans, there are some changes to the course this year so please pay close attention.
The Bataan International Triathlon (BI3) is definitely one of the most unique and memorable races in the tri calendar. By design, it has been scheduled as one of the very last races of the year. This gives all athletes something exciting to look forward to before their season closes.
The swim is pretty straightforward. It consists of two loops and waters are generally calm. From experience, there are a lot of jellyfish during this time of the year. In the event that you get stung, don’t panic and proceed to the medic’s tent after. Unless the sting is very severe, it should not cause you any more trouble for the rest of the race. Remember to seed yourself well during the swim start. For everyone’s safety and convenience, those who aren’t very confident with their swimming abilities should stay at the back. This will lessen the effects of the dreaded “washing machine.”
Since its debut four years ago, the Ironman 70.3 in Cebu has been my “A race”, it is the event that has the utmost priority and value. All my workouts, tune up races, and extraneous activities revolve around it. In fact, “all roads lead to Cebu” is a common phrase that’s thrown around through the course of my season.
